1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
The suffering of Christ for the sins of the world is not an example for us—it is our redemption.
But gospel records tell us how Jesus suffered for righteousness’ sake during His ministry, leaving us an example to follow in His steps.
When you and I suffer for our faith, we remember the example He left for us.
