The Apostle Paul prays for the Ephesian believers to receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Jesus. As we study the Word, are we open to hearing the things God is trying to teach us? Do we have a teachable spirit? Are we willing to learn?
We need to pray this prayer for ourselves on a daily basis. Far too often we base what we believe on what we have been taught or on tradition and not on the clear Word of God.
Paul prays that “the eyes of” their “understanding” might be “enlightened”. Oh the riches and glory in God's Word for the saints who ask for "understanding" as they study the Holy Scriptures.
