As she prepares their last meal before starving, the Gentile widow doesn’t realize how sick her son is or that a prophet is coming for supper or that she is trapped in sin and needs a Savior.
But God -- in His grace -- speaks to her heart about using the last of her meal and oil to make bread for his prophet Elijah.
1 Kings 17:14 For thus saith the Lord God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the Lord sendeth rain upon the earth.
Regardless of her fears and doubts, she obeyed God. The meal and oil increased each time she cooked supper. Her son died, but Elijah prayed for Him and he came back alive. The Lord speaks of her great faith in Luke 4:25, 26.
