Having been in Egypt 400 years, the Israelites found themselves enduring intense suffering and affliction. They cried out to God and He sent Moses, an eighty year old fugitive, to deliver them from slavery.
The many miracles would remove all doubt about God’s presence with His people — that He was working on their behalf.
But Pharaoh increased their burdens, and then they turned on Moses. Moses turned to the Lord, and God gave him words of Heavenly comfort.
Exodus 6:6 Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their bondage, and I will redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
God used the afflictions of Israel to bring them closer to Him. They saw His power, experienced His peace, and knew His presence.
The Lord will use our trials to draw us closer to Him, too. He wants intimacy with His people. The trials of life are designed to drive us into His arms — not to hurt us, but to develop us to be used for His glory.
Great faith is shaped from affliction. How will you know He can unless He has to.
