Psalm 61:3 For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.
David looks back over his life and remembers God giving him victory as a boy over a lion and a bear and even a giant.
He remembers God sheltering him from the murderous rage of king Saul and from the wrath of his own son.
David remembers that in every trial he ever faced, God gave him a place of safety and protection, and he is certain that God will not fail him now.
Trials that are influenced by faith look back, realizing that the way God has worked in the past is an indication of how He will work today. Mal. 3:6; Heb. 13:8.
Psalm 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
—————————————————
“Under His wings I am safely abiding. — Tho' the night deepens and tempests are wild, — Still I can trust Him; I know He will keep me. — He has redeemed me, and I am His child.
Refrain:
“Under His wings, — under His wings, — Who from His love can sever? — Under His wings my soul shall abide, — Safely abide forever.
“Under His wings, what a refuge in sorrow! — How the heart yearningly turns to His rest! —. Often when earth has no balm for my healing, — There I find comfort, and there I am blest.
“Under His wings, oh, what precious enjoyment! — There will I hide till life’s trials are o’er; — Sheltered, protected, no evil can harm me. — Resting in Jesus, I’m safe evermore.”
