He Leadeth Me

Psalm 23:1-3 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

[2] He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

[3] He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

The Shepherd tenderly leads His sheep to places of greatest safety and nutrition.

Jesus leads us into the green pastures of His Word, allows us to graze on the riches contained therein, and shelters us while we rest in the riches of His grace.

What a tender Shepherd!  He fights off the world so we have time to rest in Him!  He tenderly meets our needs!

He Leadeth me

He leadeth me! O blessed thought,    —    O words with heav'nly comfort fraught;    —    Whate'er I do, where'er I be,    —    Still 'tis Christ's hand that leadeth me.

CHORUS:

He leadeth me! He leadeth me!    —    By His own hand He leadeth me;    —    His faithful follower I would be,    —    For by His hand He leadeth me.

Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine,    —    Nor ever murmur or repine;    —    Content, whatever lot I see,    —    Since ‘tis Thy hand that leadest me.

And when my task on earth is done,    —    When, by Thy grace, the vict'ry's won, — E'en death's cold wave I will not flee, — Since God thro’ Jordan leadeth me.

Joseph Gilmore 1862
