Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
The King of Kings was born in a manger for two reasons:
1.) That some old shepherds might find Him.
2.) That some old sinners might be able to identify with Him and approach Him for salvation.
No room in the Inn relates to the rest of His life – John 1:11.
Many still have no room for Him in their lives today, John 1:12.
What Child Is This?
____________________________
What Child is this who, laid to rest, — On Mary’s lap is sleeping? — Whom angels greet with anthems sweet, — While shepherds watch are keeping?
CHORUS:
This, this is Christ the King, — Whom shepherds guard and angels sing; — Haste, haste to bring Him laud, — The Babe, the Son of Mary.
Why lies He in such mean estate, — Where ox and ass are feeding? — Good Christians, fear, for sinners here — The silent Word is pleading.
So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh, — Come peasant, king to own Him; — The King of kings salvation brings, — Let loving hearts enthrone Him.
