THE LOST IS FOUND
In the parables of the lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son (Luke 15) something valuable was lost, then found, and there was great rejoicing.
The prodigal son represents every single one of us. Even though we left home, we never left the Father's heart. Though we may have forgotten about God, He never forgot about us.
God loves us so much that He is willing to allow a crisis to bring us to our senses. In the case of the prodigal it was a famine and financial crisis.
Luke 15:20 And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.
Because the father represents God, His search for the one son teaches us that God loves us all and everyone is important to Him. No price, no effort, and no sacrifice is too great to rescue even one lost child.
Luke 19:10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
