How To Pray

I’m a little shy about praying in public, but I will if asked. I guess my prayers are an intimate thing between me and God. And when I say grace at the table, it’s the same prayer every time. Editing it doesn’t seem right. God hated it when the Pharisees prayed to be heard. Some people’s prayers inspire me, though.

The disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray. He told them to pray in secret and not to use vain repetitions because the Father knows what we need before we ask.

Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  .  .  .

Be aware that you are speaking with The Hallowed, Heavenly Father. Reverence Him.

Pray for the furtherance of His Kingdom: His work,  glory, the church, the saints, the lost.

Pray For God's will. Who’s will do you really want?

Give Him your requests - His answer will be His way and in His time – sometimes shocking. He’s answered my one-word prayers often: “HELP!”

God Honors our child-like faith, trusting Him like a child trusts a parent.
