Mark 2:4-5 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. [5] When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
The multitude surrounding the house---probably Peter’s---blocked anybody from entering, but that didn’t stop the four men from bringing their sick friend on his bed to Jesus as he preached inside. They climbed to the house top, knocked a hole in the roof and let him down with ropes.
Seeing their faith, Jesus said “Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.” That man didn’t realize the full impact of what Jesus was saying, but those were the greatest words he ever heard.
Wait a minute! This man was brought for healing and Jesus deals with his sins. Why? The Lord knew that sin---nor paralysis---was his greatest problem. Sin is our greatest problem too. All too often we focuse on the physical and never give thought to the spiritual. Jesus heals the paralyzed man, and he gets up, picks up his mat, elbows his way through the crowd, and goes home.
Great things happen when Jesus is in the house.
