The Lord Is My Shepherd

I have visited the Valley of the Shadow of Death more than once, and the Lord delivered me and calmed my fears each time.

Psalm 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

The shepherd’s staff was a long pole with a crook near the end, used to draw sheep close when they began to wander or to lift them out of dangerous crevices. The rod was much shorter, used to protect the sheep from attacks.

The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want . . . Psalm 23:1. Born again believers enjoy a place of absolute protection and comfort night and day.

John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
