The tired and hungry multitude had been with Jesus three days, and the Lord was moved by their need to eat.
Mark 8:2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
Knowing it wasn’t enough, at Jesus’ request the disciples gathered all the food they had —seven loaves of bread and a few small fish.
I wonder how the disciples felt, seating the people on the ground in sections and feeding them all they wanted and even having left overs. What a miracle!
Five times in the Gospels it’s recorded that Jesus was “moved with compassion”. This is a glimpse inside the heart of our Lord.
I’m thankful that we serve a Savior Who is interested in the things that affect our lives. This kind of concern and compassion can be seen throughout the pages of the Word of God. We serve a God Who cares.
1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
